Forum Read Me

Introduction

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Hopefully it'll explain a few things.

Why did you change the forum?

We moved from a linux/php based site to a Windows/ASP site. The site was based on phpNuke and used phpBB for the free forum.

There were increasing security issues with the site and it was decided to re-write it which would make it easier to control and quicker to add new features.

Danny, quite rightly, didn't want to lose all of the old posts when we moved to the new forum/message board. Everything from the old phpBB board has been copied over.

Were there any problems?

Yes, basically. There are two issues.

1. Your passwords, as you'd expect, were encrypted with a one-way hash function and as such I can't get at them. If you want a new password then e-mail me at matt.whitby@gmail.com and i'll get one sent over for you. Bit of a pain, I know, but there you go. Please note that I can only send a password to the e-mail address that was used with the account was set up.

2. phpBB used various codes to wrap around quoutes, etc. and for the short-term these codes will be displayed in your message. Please just ignore them.

Anything else?

Probably, but hopefully not too much. Please feel free to send bug reports to matt.whitby@gmail.com.
